Law Enforcement and Public Safety

As an unincorporated entity, The Woodlands does not have a typical "public safety" organization. Instead public safety is address through contracts with different governmental law enforcement agencies and private security companies.  The contract services are then combined with a slate of community programs offered by the Township. This section provides a summary and gateway for these programs. Click on the links for more information.

Safety Message - Please lock your vehicles

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office – District 6, Lt. David Dottei wanted everyone to be aware that over the last three months there has been a 65%  increase in UNLOCKED vehicles (77%) vs. Forced Entry (23%) – Burglary of Motor Vehicle, in driveways and parking lots in The Woodlands.

Also, of note the Lieutenant has advised that out of these vehicles (that are burglarized) that 4 to 5 times a week guns are being taken from these vehicles. Please, if you have a gun DO NOT STORE IT IN YOUR VEHICLE. This is of great concern to our deputies and is a safety hazard.

In all cases, the burglar is seeing something they want out of a vehicle.

Please share this with your neighbors and Watch Members.

Law Enforcement

Montgomery Count Sherriff's Office (MCSO) and Harris County Constables (HCC) provide the primary law enforcement services in The Woodlands through expanded paid service contracts that provide for a higher level of patrol services than would be otherwise provided.
MCSO utilizes a community policing approach where deputies are assigned to specific zones or neighborhoods.  Panther Creek is Zone 2.  As part of this approach the sheriff maintains a liaison officer who is typically present at monthly village association meetings to discuss any community issues and concerns.
Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) (State Troopers) – Due to the unincorporated nature of the Woodlands Community, vehicle accident investigations are conducted by the TxDPS.

Department of Law Enforcement (DLE) of The Woodlands Township focuses on coordinating activities and information flow between the various organizations involved in providing public safety services to local residents.  This department compiles and issues the community report on crimes and related law enforcement activites by neighborhood.
